(KAIR)--Damage was reported at Atchison's Amelia Earhart Memorial Airport after a storm producing strong winds and heavy rain swept through the area Monday night.
City Manager Trey Cocking traveled to the airport Tuesday morning to assess the damage. He says the north hanger, which is owned by the city, sustained significant damage, and is more than likely a complete loss. Several aircraft were also damaged.
A damage estimate wasn't available.
Atchison County Emergency Management Director Wes Lanter says there were multiple reports of trees and power lines downed all across the area as a result of the storm. He also adds that a residence just north of the airport had a large shed destroyed.
