The Fifth Annual Women in Ag Program is fast approaching! Please make plans to join us in celebrating five years of this fun, educational night for women in agriculture from Doniphan County and surrounding areas. If you’re an absentee landowner, farm helper, or active operator, this night is for you! Our program this year is scheduled for Wednesday, July 16th beginning at 6:00 pm at the Troy Community Center. Registration deadline is July 11th! Our speakers this year are Glenn Brunkow, LaVell Winsor and Laura Handke. Mr. Brunkow is the author of a weekly column called Dust on the Dashboard. He is a fifth generation farmer and an outspoken advocate for agriculture. He will be presenting "The True Story of Agriculture." Mrs. Winsor and Mrs. Handke volunteer with CommonGround Kansas, a group working to dispel myths about modern agriculture. Their presentation, ‘Fear vs. Fact: Helping Consumers Understand GMOs’, addresses fears and facts about biotechnology and they will share conversation strategies for helping consumers feel more confident in their food choices.
Registration will start at 5:30 pm with a light dinner starting at 6:00 pm. The presentations will begin at 7:00 pm.
We are excited to provide FREE babysitting services this year for our guests! We will have babysitters available for children, ages 6 months to 12 years of age. A meal and activities will be provided while the meeting is taking place. Pre-registration is required.
This year we will also be participating in the Feds Feed Families Food Drive. We are asking that each guest bring a canned food item to be donated to the local food pantry. If you are interested in attending the 5th Annual Women in Ag Program or have any questions, please call Chris Griffin at 785-985-2221 x. 3 to register by July 11th
