(KAIR)--The Atchison Art Association is one of eleven organizations that has received a grant from the Kansas Creative Arts Industries Commission.
According to a release from the KCAIC, the Atchison Art Association received $15,000. The money will be used to help fund the series of six public art installations the association plans to construct in the city over the next couple of years.
The first project in the series titled To Share Food is to Share Life consists of twenty concrete panels installed on two city blocks at the Atchison Farmer's Market on Main Street. It aims to shield the market from a busy railway, and beautify the market as an attractive destination for tourism and local food education.
The grant awards, which totaled over $355,000 were awarded through the Strategic Investment and Arts Integration programs, as well as the Creativity Economy Project Support program.
Grantees are selected by the KCAIC through an application and review process.
