(KTNC)--Thunderstorms and locally heavy rains have prompted the National Weather Service to issue a flash flood watch for southeast Nebraska, effective through Saturday evening.
While widespread heavy rain is not expected, a few locations could pick up an additional inch or two of rain that could lead to additional flooding. The primary flood threat is for low-lying areas and areas with poor drainage, as well as streams and rivers.
Minor flooding is also forecast to continue on the Missouri River, generally downstream from Nebraska City.
After falling to 18.6 feet Friday night, the Missouri River at Rulo is expected to rise again – to just over 20 feet – by Sunday evening, before falling below flood stage Tuesday evening.
