(KNZA)--A Fairview man is facing charges in a Sabetha check forgery case.
46-year-old Lonnie Wayne Coker was arrested Tuesday by the Sabetha Police Department.
Coker was formally charged Thursday in Nemaha County District Court with a felony count of forgery and misdemeanor count of possession of stolen property.
Sabetha Police Chief Robert Wahwasuck says Coker is accused of passing checks that he knowingly did not have the right or permission to do so.
Wahwasuck says the investigation was initiated by a report of a prior residential burglary. He said the victim had no idea that the break-in had taken place until checks were being returned to the bank that they did not issue.
He says the investigation is ongoing, with the possibility of other arrests.
A preliminary hearing for Coker is scheduled for July 2nd. Coker is currently free on $15,000 bond.
