(KAIR)--Atchison County has completed their annual financial audit, covering the year 2013.
The audit was conducted by the accounting firm Reese & Novelly, and Melanie Tuttle, who represents the firm, came before commissioners during a recent meeting to present the results.
Commission Chair Jeff Schuele says the County was given a pretty good clean bill of health. Tuttle provided the Commission with a thick book of their findings, as well as a letter of audit results.
Schuele adds that while the audit did not show any major problems, there is always room for improvement and some work still needs to be done. Things such as internal controls, and ensuring that everything is entered properly into the system. Tuttle will also make sure that any excess fund balances are either put into capital reserve funds or roll them over into current cash fund balances.
Schuele says the full audit results have been posted on the County's website, and encourages anyone who may be interested to take a look.
