(KNZA)-- Brown County Undersheriff Mickey Gruber will be joining the Hiawatha Police Department.
Hiawatha Police Chief John Defore announced the hiring of Gruber to fill a full-time officer vacancy at Monday's City Commission meeting. Defore says Gruber will begin work with the police department on June 9th.
Gruber has been with the Brown County Sheriff’s Department for 20 years, and served as Undersheriff about six years.
Sheriff John Merchant says Investigator Randy Linck will serve as interim undersheriff.
