(MSC News)--Kansas Republican Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins is being accused of potential campaign finance and ethics violations, but her Chief of Staff calls the allegations either a political stunt or the work of “someone who doesn't know the laws and regulations.”
That follows the filing of a Federal Elections Commission complaint and a request for a Congressional investigation by the Kansas Democratic Party.
According to a report published by the Topeka Capital-Journal, the executive director of the Kansas Democratic Party says the issue centers on whether Jenkins relied upon taxpayer funding to pay campaign manager Bill Roe or neglected to properly report Roe's compensation and expenditures on federal reports.
Jenkins' Chief of Staff Pat Leopold says there is no violation, with Jenkins in “complete compliance with House rules and regulations governing House employee activity on their own time.”
Jenkins is seeking re-election to a fourth term representing the 2nd District of Kansas.
