(KNZA)--A former area state lawmaker has filed to reclaim his old seat.
Sabetha Democrat Steve Lukert filed before Monday’s filing deadline to challenge incumbent Sabetha Republican Randy Garber to represent the 62nd District in the Kansas House of Representatives.
The 62nd District includes Brown and Nemaha Counties along with portions of Atchison and Jackson Counties.
Lukert previously held the position from January 2006-January 2011, but lost in his re-election bid to Garber.
Lukert last ran for public office in 2012 against State Senator Dennis Pyle.
