Former Area Ks Legislator Pleads Guilty to Bank Fraud
05/28/2014

Trent LeDoux

(KNZA)--A former area Kansas state legislator has pleaded guilty to bank fraud.

40-year-old Trent LeDoux, of Holton, pleaded guilty Tuesday to defrauding Farmers and Merchants Bank in Colby of more than $465,000.

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, LeDoux admitted he falsely told the bank he would use money from three loans to buy cattle.

Prosecutors say he used the money to pay off debts and make contributions to his political campaign.

LeDoux will be sentenced August 11th.  He faces up to 30 years in federal prison and a fine up to $1 million.

LeDoux served in the Kansas House, representing District 50, from June 2011 to 2013.  He was appointed to the position in May of 2011 to fill the unexpired term of the late Rocky Fund.
