(KNZA)--A single-vehicle wreck on U.S. 24 Highway in Jefferson County Monday afternoon claimed the life of a Lenexa man.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says 71-year-old Ronald Heugel was westbound when his van left the highway and entered the north shoulder. Heugel then overcorrected, and re-entered the highway. His van slid across the highway into the southbound ditch and began to roll, coming to rest on a high tension fence.
Heugel ,who was the lone occupant in the van, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Patrol says he was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the wreck, which was reported at about 3 Monday afternoon about three miles east of K-237.
