Details Released on Resignation of USD 113 Superintendent
(KNZA)--Details have been released on the resignation of Prairie Hills USD 113 Superintendent Dr. Bill Orth, which was effective May 1st.
Orth’s resignation was accepted by the USD 113 Board of Education during a special meeting April 30th.
The Sabetha Herald reports the resignation was part of a settlement agreement signed by the board at the meeting. According to the agreement, differences had arisen between the board and Orth, and both had an interest in facilitating his separation from the district.
As part of the agreement, Orth was appointed to the new full-time position of coordinator of transition services, effective June 1st through December 31st of this year. In the position, Orth will be responsible for the sale of the Bern and Summerfield school buildings, and all items associated with those buildings.
Orth will continue to receive the same base pay and benefits he did as superintendent.
The board appointed Assistant Superintendent Volora Hanzlicek as interim superintendent.
The board hasn’t made any decisions on how they plan to proceed in filling the superintendent’s position or a timeframe for doing so.
