(MSC News)--U.S. Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins spent last week in Northeast Kansas, partly to accompany former Senator, and Kansas native Bob Dole on his current tour, and partly to listen to the concerns of her constituents while bringing the message of Washington Republicans to her home state.
“You have to be able to get this fiscal house in order,” Jenkins told MSC News. “We have 17 and a-half trillion dollars in debt, so we only have to not only balance the budget but put our nation on a path to eliminate that national debt. That's what the Republican budget does without a tax increase. It maintains full funding, and no changes, to the entitlement programs like Medicare for Senior citizens. I think that's important. A lot of people will accuse us [Republicans] of throwing grandma off the cliff, which is just absurd.”
Accompanying Dole to his visits in Atchison, Holton and Leavenworth early last week, Jenkins came without him to Hiawatha on Friday, addressing the Hiawatha Kiwanis club and then touring the AgJunction facility.
