Advance Voting Underway for Holton USD 336 Bond Issue
(KNZA)--Advance voting is underway for the May 6th special election for Holton USD 336 on a $21.5 million bond issue for the construction of a new elementary school.
District patrons, who are registered to vote, can cast their vote in advance between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Jackson County Clerk’s office located on the second floor of the Jackson County Courthouse.
If voters say “yes”, the district plans to purchase the property to the west of the current Colorado Elementary School, demolish the original 1954 building and construct a new two-story structure in its place. The 1986 building addition would be renovated for administrative support offices, which the district currently rents.
If approved by voters, the state would pay 52 percent of the bond issue. District patrons would be responsible for 48 percent of the cost, which is to be financed over a 25-year period with a 8.136 property tax levy.
