City Wide Cleanup Week in Tecumseh

(KLZA) -- The annual city-wide cleanup is underway in Tecumseh.

On Thursday and Friday a “Yours for the Taking Daze” event will be held. Tecumseh residents can place unwanted household items on the curb and hope that someone else comes along and wants them.

An electronic recycling event is planned for Saturday, April 26th in Tecumseh. The City and NebWorks, Incorporated out of Nebraska City, will host the event allowing people to dispose of unwanted devices in a way that will not damage the environment.

The event will be held from 9 a-m until noon on the north side of the Johnson County Courthouse in Tecumseh.

Residents and businesses will be able to dispose of a variety of items including personal computers, monitors, LCD and flat screen monitors, VCR’s, radios, stereos, DVD players, microwaves, rechargeable batteries, vacuum cleaners, telephones, laptops, keyboards, power cables, printers, copy machines, fax machines, cell phones, scanners, non-hazardous medical equipment, servers, ink and toner cartridges, remotes, modems, projectors, cameras televisions and other electronic equipment.

Items that will not be accepted include fluorescent bulbs and light bulbs, washers and dryers, humidifiers or de-humidifiers, dishwashers, refrigerators, car batteries, gas powered tools, freezers and ovens.

There will be a $10 fee to dispose of computer monitors and $15 for all sizes of televisions.
