(KLZA) -- Unemployment figures for March in Southeast, Nebraska were down in all but one county.
The Johnson County unemployment rate was up a tenth of a percent to 4.1 percent. Nemaha County had the highest unemployment rate in the area at 5.3, unchanged from last month. Richardson County was right behind at 5.2 percent, but that figure is down 2-tenths.
Pawnee County has the area’s best unemployment rate at just 2.8 percent which is more than a half a percentage point lower than in February. Gage County was 4.5 percent and Otoe County 4.1 percent.
Howard County has the highest unemployment rate in Nebraska at 7.6 percent. Nemaha and Richardson County have the 9th and 10th highest unemployment figures among Nebraska’s 93 counties.
Overall the State of Nebraska’s unemployment rate is 3.7 percent for March which is up a tent of a point but still ranks as the third best in the nation. North Dakota has the best jobless rate in the nation with an unemployment rate of 2.6 percent, Vermont is second at 3.4. Iowa is tied for 7th at 4.5, Kansas is 12th at 4.9 and Missouri is 33rd in the nation at 6.1 percent.
