(KNZA)--A motion has been filed to try a 17-year-old Topeka teen, accused of the abuse of a 7-month old Holton child, as an adult.
Jackson County Attorney Shawna Miller identifies the teen as Koylen Corbin McKinney.
He is charged with one count of aggravated battery, abuse of a child, and aggravated endangerment of a child.
McKinney was arrested Saturday morning following a Friday night medical call to a Holton apartment complex located at 110 Pennsylvania.
Jackson County Sheriff Tim Morse says the young victim was reported to have difficulty breathing and was unresponsive.
At last check, the child, who was flown to a Kansas City hospital, was considered to be in critical condition.
McKinney remains in custody, held on the felony charges.
The Holton Police Department assisted with the investigation.
