(KTNC) - The Pawnee City Council has approved the first reading of changes to the ordinance pertaining to dog licensing fees.
The changes allow residents who move to Pawnee City between July and December to pay half price to license their dogs and change the senior citizen age from 65 to 55 years of age.
In other action Monday, the Pawnee City council approved a motion to renew the Handi-bus agreement with the county for $3,200.
The council approved a motion to have HJP Pest Control spray for mosquitoes this summer. The motion was approved on a 2-1 vote, with council members Deb Klein and Sandi Corbett-Sears voting in favor, John Dahlgren voting against the motion, and Charlie Hatfield abstaining.
Representatives from the Fairview Golf Club, Historical Society, and the Chamber of Commerce met with the council regarding the city’s annual donations to the organizations. The city has given donations to those, and other, organizations in the past. The council will consider the organization’s requests when they make next year’s budget.
The Pawnee City Council also hired six lifeguards to work at the pool this summer. Three of the guards worked at the pool last year and three are new. Pawnee City is still accepting lifeguard applications. The Pawnee City pool will be open from May 24 to August 10 this summer.
