(MSC News)--The Kansas winter of 2014 goes down in the books as the most costly since 2008.
That word from the Kansas Department of Transportation, which reports spending an estimated $22 million on materials, labor and equipment usage necessary to battle the winter weather.
That amount compares to the $23.7 million spent in 2008.
KDOT crews worked 550,000 hours and utilized 591 dump trucks while maintaining nearly 3 million lane miles.
The lowest amount spent by KDOT for winter weather over the past seven years was in 2012 when $6.8 million was expended.
The 2014 figures will be finalized at the end of the fiscal year on June 30th.
