Atchison Woman Charged With K2 Possession

A disturbance report at an Atchison residence over the weekend, has led to an arrest of one of the home's occupants.

According to Atchison Police Chief Mike Wilson, officers responded to a disturbance call early Saturday afternoon at a home located in the 700 block of Kearney. Once on the scene, officers started to investigate, and quickly discovered 37-year-old Kelly McGuire of Atchison hiding in a room.

When McGuire was searched, officials discovered what is believed to be several controlled substances including the synthetic marijuana K2, drug paraphernalia, and other substances that were sent to the lab for identification.

McGuire was taken into custody and transported to the Atchison County Jail. She is facing one charge of possession of K2, and one charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. She was also wanted on a Brown County warrant for failure to appear in court. She was not part of the disturbance that initiated the call.

McGuire made her first appearance in Atchison County court Monday afternoon where her bond was set at $10,000. Her next appearance was set for April 7th.
