Funding Available for riparian tree plantings & improvement projects
There is currently nearly $700,000 available to Kansas landowners through NRCS’ Cooperative Conservation Partnership Initiative (CCPI). The sign up deadline has been moved from mid-March to April 18. CCPI is EQIP funding that is specifically allocated towards riparian forest buffers, riparian forest management, and windbreak renovation. If you have a possible project, your local service center can assist you with completing an application. Following submission of your application, a meeting will be scheduled with the regional forester to come to your property and evaluate your project specifics.
This is the final year of CCPI, and with 700K available, it is highly likely that CCPI applications will be funded. If you miss the 4/18 deadline there are no more chances for CCPI, although the continuous EQIP sign up will still be an option for riparian forestry funds through mid-November.
If you have specific questions please feel free to contact Billy Beck directly at 785-532-3305.
