Atchison Recycling Bill Approved By State Senate
03/21/2014

(KAIR)--The city of Atchison is one step closer to starting a new recycling method.

State Representative Jerry Henry, of Cummings, introduced a bill last month that would allow the city to start the new single source curbside service one year sooner than state law currently allows.

The bill passed the House and was sent to the Senate earlier this month.

According to City Manager Trey Cocking, the Senate approved the bill by a 38-2 vote Wednesday, and will now be sent to Governor Sam  Brownback for consideration.

Cocking says he expects Brownback to take action in the next three weeks.
