(KMZA)--A push is underway to bring new tennis courts to Marysville.
The city is looking for a potential partnership with the local school district to make it happen.
According to a recent power point presentation provided to the USD 364 Board of Education, cost for construction of 6 courts is estimated at just over one-million-dollars while 8 courts would cost nearly 1.3 million dollars. The information was outlined by representatives of Olsson Associates of Manhattan and Bowman, Bowman, Novick, Inc. from Kansas City and Manhattan.
Following the presentation, four voices of support were heard from the audience, all seeking district financial support for the project.
City Administrator Rick Shain was also present. He requested that the School Board make a decision on possible financial assistance prior to the City Council's March 24th meeting. Interim Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Randy Freeman, agreed to share the School Board's consensus on providing financial support prior to that meeting.
