Regulators Approve Westar Energy Rate Hike
(AP)-- Westar Energy customers are facing higher electricity bills.
State regulators have granted the utility a nearly $44 million rate hike to cover the cost of new transmission lines.
The state agency that represents homeowners on utility issues says those who use 900 kilowatt hours will pay about $2.59 more per month. The rate increase will take effect April 2nd.
The Wichita Eagle reports counting Thursday's increase, Westar's annual rates have been increased nearly $514 million since 2009.
