(KNZA)-- An April 3rd preliminary hearing has now been set for a Topeka man accused of the rape and torture of a Holton woman.
That came during a status hearing held Monday in a Jackson County courtroom for 35-year-old Filip Rosario. During the hearing, Rosario’s attorney withdrew a request for a competency evaluation for his client.
Rosario is charged with 9 counts—including attempted capital murder.
Authorities say the crimes occurred December 19th and 20th. Rosario allegedly took the female victim, who was known to him, by car from Holton to Topeka. She was able to escape and receive help from a passerby. The woman was treated at a Topeka hospital for injuries and released.
Rosario remains in the Jackson County Jail on $500,000 bond.
