(KNZA)--A Meriden man has been sentenced to more than five years in prison in connection with a fatal head-on crash in March 2010 that claimed the life of Topeka man.
25-year-old Aaron Meade was sentenced Monday on a charge of involuntary manslaughter in the commission of a DUI.
Meade pleaded guilty to the amended charge in January. In exchange, several additional counts were dismissed.
Authorities say Meade was driving a pickup north on K-4 Highway in Shawnee County on March 8th, 2010 when he crossed the center line and collided with a southbound car driven by 50-year-old Neil Highsmith. Highsmith was pronounced dead at the scene.
Meade was arrested and charged in November of last year.
