(KAIR)--The scholars bowl team from Maur Hill-Mount Academy competed in the state tournament last month and took home third place, only losing three times during the event. Team Sponsor Mike Poliquin says he knew his team was special, and had what it took to go far as early as last year's state tournament when his team took on the team that had already won the state title, and won. He says they were strong from the start this year, and managed to compile a very good record.
Poliquin adds he saw a lot of potential in three sophomore members of his team. He says that as the math teacher, he was impressed when he saw the three younger members take an advanced math class. They also displayed trait that he deems the most important for a team member to have, and that is to not only be smart, but to also be quick.
Poliquin says next year's team shows a lot of promise, with only one team member graduating.
