Arraignment Postponed in Brown Co Identity Fraud Case

( KNZA)--The arraignment for one of two women charged in a Brown County identity fraud and phone harassment case has been postponed.

Brown County District Court Judge John Weingart Monday granted a request by the court-appointed attorney for Amanda Gunderson, of Hiawatha, for a continuance and rescheduled the arraignment for March 31st .

Gunderson is charged with two felony counts of aiding and abetting identity fraud and a misdemeanor count of aiding and abetting harassment by telephone.

She is accused of aiding and abetting Molly Smith, of Troy.  Smith is accused  of assuming a fake identity in order to text various individuals in the Hiawatha area, allegedly sending harassing and threatening messages.

Smith is scheduled for arraignment Friday on seven counts of identity fraud, criminal threat and harassment by telephone.

Both women were arrested last November following an investigation by the Brown County Sheriff’s Department and remain free on bond.
