(KMZA)--Authorities say a body was recovered from the Tuttle Cove area of Tuttle Creek Lake Friday afternoon.
According to a news release, the Riley County Police Department received a call shortly after 3 in the afternoon from an individual reporting that a body was discovered in the water.
Upon arrival, officers and emergency personnel retrieved the body from the water.
The individual was pronounced dead by a coroner.
Although much of the lake is frozen, the release says the body was located in an area of thawed water a short distance from the shore.
The body was taken to the Kansas City area for an autopsy by a forensic pathologist. The identity of the individual is being withheld pending a positive identification and notification of next of kin.
