(KLZA) -- Richardson County Commissioners Tuesday met with representatives of Prochaska & Associates to review preliminary plans for a jail and law enforcement facility. Sheriff Randy Houser suggested some changes to the plans to reduce the cost of the project. Prochaska and Associates will revise the plans and resubmit them to the Board and Nebraska Jail Standards for Review.
Following a public hearing Tuesday drawing comment from Bill Ely on a project on 720 Road between 641 and 642 Avenue, Richardson County Commissioners approved the One & Six Year Road Plan for Richardson County.
Ely inquired about replacement of a bridge and sharing the cost with Nemaha County, Nebraska. Ely told the Board he feels the current structure is dangerous and should be moved to the One-Year Plan.
Highlights of the One-Year plan include $1,900,000 worth of work on a 4 mile stretch of the Preston Road; and a $470,000 bridge replacement project. The Six-Year Plan includes 62 projects. One of the projects included is hard surfacing of the Airport Road which is East 21st Street in Falls City. It would cover a distance of 7-tenths of a mile at a cost of $1,500,000. However, it is not listed as a priority project.
County Assessor Pam Vice and appraiser Wayne Cole met with the Board to discuss the possibility of obtaining the services and products of Pictomerty Intelligent Images for Richardson County. Brian Dixon, Emergency Management Agency Director, County Treasurer Austin Duerfeldt also attended to present the idea for consideration.
The cost for the service is $72,184 and would be paid over a three year period.
Falls City Utility Superintendent Alan Romine attended this portion of the meeting. Commissioners inquired about the City of Falls City participating in the cost of obtaining the services. Further review of the product is to be done.
Commissioners also approved agreements with the Nebraska Department of Roads for inspection and load rating on Fracture Critical Bridge Inspections.
