(KNZA)--It still may be winter, but spring is just around the corner, and with it the threat of severe weather.
The National Weather Service will be holding storm spotter meetings in Jefferson, Brown, Marshall and Atchison Counties next week.
The meetings will take place Monday, February 24th at the Jeff West High School in Meriden; Wednesday, February 26th at the Fisher Center in Hiawatha; Thursday, February 27th at the Summerfield Fire Department and Thursday the 27th at the Atchison County Elementary School in Effingham. All the meetings will begin at 7 in the evening.
The meetings will focus on severe storm safety, preparedness and awareness. The public is invited to attend.
March 3rd-7th is Severe Weather Awareness Week in Kansas, and the statewide tornado safety drill will be held at 1:30 the afternoon of March 4th.
