(KNZA)--No injuries are immediately reported, but sleet and snow slickened local roadways are being blamed for at least three separate big rig slide-offs early Thursday afternoon.
Two of the semis went off of Highway 75, reportedly near Sabetha, while another slid off of U.S. Highway 36, west of Hiawatha.
The morning sleet and snowfall that helped lead to the wrecks, came as part of what some area residents are calling a “bizarre” weather system that has included snow, sleet, hail, high wind and thunder and lightning. The system moved in early Wednsday night and continued through Thursday, when rain turned to sleet and snow during the morning hours.
