(KLZA) -- The Auburn School Board Monday night voted to accept an invitation to join the East Central Nebraska Conference starting with the 2014-15 school year. Superintendent Kevin Reiman says while most think of a conference affiliation as it relates to athletics, there are a number of other advantages to joining a conference, including fine arts and academics.
Auburn has been without a conference for more than 30 years when the Twin Rivers Conference broke up. There are 12 teams in the ECNC.
Following an executive session to discuss personnel, the Board approved salaries for district administrators for the next school year. Superintendent Kevin Reiman will be paid $112,750 and has a two year contract. School Improvement and Curriculum Director Nancy Fuller will be paid $94,400; Secondary Principal Vernon Golladay will be paid $89,500; Elementary Principal Jackie Kelsay will be paid $87,250 and Assistant Principal Athletic Director Scott Anderson will be paid $74,000.
The Auburn School Board accepted the resignation of secondary math teacher Cheryl Krafka and approved the 2014-15 school year calendar, adding 4 days to the school year. The first day of classes for students will be August 14th, with the final day of the school year for students on May 21, 2015.
The rate for Drivers Education was set at $250 and the contract with American Dream Realty to manage the school districts downtown properties was renewed.
The option enrollment deadline was waived for three students and was refused for one. Approval was also given to renewing membership in the Nebraska Association of School Boards at a cost of $4,600.
