(MSC News)--New scams reported in Kansas, with two variants falsely representing the state court system.
One reported scam involves a phone call where the caller claims to be affiliated with a local court or sheriff's offfice who demands that the would be victim pay a fine for failing to report for jury duty.
The other reported scam is done through email, with the recipient encouraged to click a link to confirm the filing of a court complaint. However, the link is believed to deliver a virus onto the recipient's computer.
The State Office of Judicial Administration says if such a phone call is received, hang up and notify local law enforcment. If the email is delivered, delete it immediately.
