(KAIR)--Due to impending severe winter weather, Atchison County is implementing an Emergency Accident Reporting Plan, effective immediately.
According to a release from the Atchison County Sheriff's office, this means if you are involved in a non-injury collision outside of the Atchison city limits, but within Atchison County, you should exchange driver, insurance, and tag information with all parties involved, and immediately contact the Atchison County Communications center at 913-367-4323 with that information along with a contact number and accident location.
If the collision was not a hit and run, if no alcohol or drugs were involved, and if all vehicles are drivable, you are then advised to move your vehicle to prevent any further wrecks from occurring. A deputy will contact you later to take an accident report if necessary.
All other collisions of a more serious nature should immediately be reported to 913-367-4323 or 911.
