(KNZA)--Two separate wrecks Friday in Jackson County sent three people to the hospital.
Jackson County Sheriff Tim Morse says the first wreck occurred at the intersection of 126th and Q Roads around 3:15.
Morse says 69-year-old Hoyt resident Sally Heald was northbound on Q Road when she failed to yield the right-of-way at the stop sign, entered the intersection, and was struck by a eastbound car on 126th Road driven by 30-year-old Topeka resident Katherine Fuqua.
Heald was trapped in her vehicle and had to be extricated.
Both drivers were transported to Topeka’s Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center with non-life threatening injuries.
The second wreck occurred about 11:30 Friday night on U.S. Highway 75 about a ½ mile north of 126th Road.
Morse says 24-year-old Emilee Wingo, of Denison, was having vehicle troubles and pulled to the right shoulder. While parked, her car was struck in the rear by a northbound car driven by 55-year-old Frederick Smith, of Topeka.
Smith was transported to Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka with non-life threatening injuries.
Morse says the sheriff’s department is investigating whether alcohol contributed to the wreck.
