(KAIR)--A fire was reported at an Atchison motel late Thursday morning.
According to Atchison Fire Department Captain Ted Graf, firefighters responded to the Atchison Motor Inn in the 400 block of South Tenth Street shortly before 11:15. Upon arrival, Graf says crews observed heavy smoke in one of the second story rooms and fire was located in one of the walls. Fire personnel were able to extinguish the blaze in about ten minutes.
Graf says the preliminary investigation shows the fire most likely was started by embers or sparks from a nearby welding project that was going on in the general area.
There were no injuries reported. A damage estimate wasn't immediately available.
