(KNZA)--A Mayetta man Monday entered a guilty plea to a federal charge arising from a domestic assault that happened on tribal lands.
U.S. Atttorney Barry Grissom says 28-year-old William Wilson, who pled guilty to one count of domestic assault, admitted that he assaulted a woman on September 7th of last year. He was living with the victim, at the time of the assault, on the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation reservation near Mayetta.
Wilson, in his plea, admitted to hitting and choking her, leaving her with physical injuries.
Prior to the assault, Wilson had been convicted on three separate domestic assault offenses.
Sentencing is set for April 14th, with Wilson facing a sentence of 24 to 40 months in federal prison.
