(KNZA)--The preliminary hearing for a Topeka man accused of the rape and torture of a Holton woman has been pushed back to March.
Jackson County Attorney Shawna Miller says the hearing for 35-year-old Filip Rosario, which had been scheduled for Monday in a Jackson County courtroom, was rescheduled for March 10th because his attorney plans to file a motion seeking a competency hearing for Rosario.
Rosario is charged with 9 felony counts—including attempted capital murder.
Authorities say the crimes occurred December 19th and 20th. Rosario allegedly took the female victim, who was known to him, by car from Holton to Topeka. She was able to escape and receive help from a passerby. The woman was treated at a Topeka hospital for injuries and released.
Rosario remains in the Jackson County Jail on $500,000 bond.
