Postal Rate Increase Takes Effect Sunday
(MSCNEWS)--The cost to mail a letter and postcard will increase, effective Sunday (January 26th).
The cost to mail a first-class letter weighing one ounce or less will change from the current 46 cents to 49 cents, a three-cent jump. Each additional ounce on a first-class letter will cost 21 cents, a 1-cent increase. The price also applies to the surcharge for square or oversized envelopes.
Postcard postage will see a one-cent increase to 34 cents.
The cost of one-ounce letters to all international destinations will increase 5 cents. Domestic Forever stamps for first-class letters for U.S. delivery, in addition to Global Forever stamps for first-class international letter delivery, can still be purchased at the current rates before Jan. 26.
The last rate increase was in January of last year.
