(KNZA)--There will be contested races this April for two seats on the Horton City Commission and a seat on the Holton City Commission.
In Horton, Bryan Stirton is challenging Jeremy Forkenbrock in his bid for re-election as Police Commissioner. Forkenbrock has served on the commission since June 2007.
Lonnie Boller is challenging Al Barton in his bid to retain his position as Parks and Recreation Commissioner. Barton was appointed in October 2012 to fill the unexpired term of Dr. Steve Davies, who resigned.
In Holton, Twila White is running against Hal Cochren in his bid for re-election to position 5 on the city commission. Bob Dieckmann is running unopposed in his bid for re-election to position 1.
In Hiawatha, two commissioners are running unopposed in their bids for re-election. They include Bill Collins as Finance Commissioner and Steffen Shamburg as Commissioner of Police.
Tuesday was the filing deadline.The general election will be April 1st.
