Ks Teen Accused of Planning School Shooting
(AP) -- A Topeka teenager accused of planning a shooting at a high school has had a brief detention hearing that was closed to the public. His bond is $1 million.
The 17-year-old is charged with four counts of soliciting first-degree murder.
Shawnee County District Attorney Chad Taylor said Wednesday the teen was planning to shoot two administrators at Topeka West High School, a Topeka police officer and a school police officer working at the high school.
He's accused of trying to encourage three other individuals to help with the plot but he had no co-conspirators.
Taylor says the investigation began in mid-December after authorities received a tip and the plot was stopped early in the investigation.
The defendant is being charged as a juvenile but Taylor says he'll seek to have him tried as an adult.
