(KNZA)--A new role for a Brown County Sheriff's Deputy.
That follows a decision of the Brown County Commission during their regular meeting Monday.
Rich Lemkuhl has been named to serve as a part time Emergency Preparedness Officer, working under County Emergency Management Director Randy Linck.
Effective January 1st, Lemkuhl will serve in the position for 20 hours each week, on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Due to the on-call status, the county will include insurance benefits.
Lemkuhl was named to the role following a ten minute executive session that apparently focused, at least in part, in his change of job duties.
Meanwhile, the official newspaper for Brown County has been chosen for another year.
The Commission considered the bids provided both by the Hiawatha World, offering $3.00 per column inch, and the Horton Headlight, offering $2.00 per column inch.
Ultimately chosen to carry the official legal notices of the county is the Horton Headlight, as approved by a vote of the Commission.
