(KTNC) -- A freezing rain advisory is in effect for counties in northwest Missouri and northeast Kansas.
The National Weather Service in Kansas City has issued the advisory, effective from 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening until 6:00 a.m. Friday.
The forecast calls for drizzle to develop late this afternoon and continue through this evening. A cold front that’s expected to move through the area tonight will change the precipitation to freezing drizzle or light freezing rain. The freezing precipitation will continue through early Friday morning.
Less than a tenth of an inch of ice accumulation is expected, but the ice could cause slick conditions on area roads and sidewalks.
Those planning to travel tonight and tomorrow morning should use caution and monitor road conditions.
The freezing rain advisory covers counties in northwest Missouri including Holt, Nodaway, and Andrew…and Doniphan and Atchison Counties in Kansas.
