(KAIR)--Waste was again on the agenda for the Atchison City Commissioners Monday,as commissioners passed an ordnance that addresses the waste being released into the city's sewers.
City Manager Trey Cocking says that this new ordinance will only benefit the sewer system. It specifies exactly what kind of waste can be released into the system and is basically designed to protect the sewer system and sewer plant going forward.
The new sewer ordinance was approved by Commissioners, and was put into effect immediately.
In other business, the commissioners voted unanimously to extend Cocking's contract for another three years, running through December 31st 2016.
