Hiawatha Armory
(KNZA)--The Hiawatha-based Kansas National Guard’s 2nd Battalion, 130th Field Artillery has a new commander.
During a change of command ceremony Saturday at the Hiawatha armory, Lt. Colonel Christopher Burr passed responsibility for the welfare and training of the more than 340 soldiers of the battalion to Lt. Colonel Paul Schneider. Burr had been in command of the 2nd Battalion for the last 37 months.
Schneider, who grew up in Highland, enlisted in the Kansas Army National Guard in 1987. He completed Officer Candidate School in June 1994 and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in January 1995.
Schneider is married to the former Teri Hedrick of Robinson. The Schneiders live in Hiawatha with their daughter, Sidney.
The 2nd Battalion, 130th Field Artillery has units in Abilene, Clay Center, Holton, Marysville and Ottawa.
