(KAIR)--Atchison police were looking for one person in connection with an alleged theft that occurred Friday evening at the Hardware Store, located at 609 Commercial, and ended up getting more than they bargained for. Atchison Police Chief Mike Wilson says that officials were looking for 34-year old Darren Powell in connection with a theft that took place in late October from Wal Mart.
Friday's theft investigation led police to Powell as well as to 39-year old Candi McNeely who also allegedly took part in the Hardware Store theft. She had also allegedly taken part in the previous Wal Mart theft, but had been arrested for that on November 21st.
Powell was arrested just after 6:30 Saturday night on the district court warrant for the Wal Mart theft, a Saline court warrant for failure to appear, and faces charges for theft from the Hardware store.
McNeely was arrested just before 11:00 Saturday night and faces charges of theft from the Hardware store.
