There will be some changes in the makeup of some sports teams in Northwest Missouri beginning next fall.

The Mound City and Craig Boards of Education voted this week to co-op all high school and junior high sports and cheerleading beginning with the 2014-15 school year.  The agreement is for a period of two school years.

Fairfax will co-op with Tarkio in football but will have stand-alone teams in all other sports starting next fall.

The Mound City Board voted unanimously for the co-op with Craig while the vote of the Craig board was 4-2. Mound City Superintendent said  the coaches and sponsors at Mound City are excited about the opportunity to work with the Craig students and parents.

Eaton notes that while there is always some growing pains with change, he hopes all involved will be patient as the process unfolds. He hopes  the co-op agreement will provide both schools’ students a better opportunity for success, noting that after all, it is all about the kids.
