HFED Looking for New Director

(KNZA)--The Hiawatha Foundation for Economic Development is looking for a new director.

HFED President Gene Hillyer informed the Hiawatha City Commission Monday evening that Jessica Kisling will be leaving at the end of the year to complete her college education. Kisling took over as director of the organization in May, replacing Don Nigus.

In presenting HFED’s quarterly report to the commission, Kisling said a housing study has been completed in the community. She says she feels the study, which is contained in a digital format, will be beneficial to the city and local businesses in attracting individuals to the community.

Kisling says new residents can now receive assist in helping repay their student loans. The Brown County Commission earlier this month agreed to participate in the program that allows counties designated as a Rural Opportunity Zone to partner with the state to help new residents repay up to $15,000 in college loans.
Kisling says she believes the program will be a great asset in helping local businesses recruit employees for hard to fill positions.
