(KNZA)--The Doniphan County Commission is preparing for next summer’s chip and seal road projects.
The commission Monday accepted the lone bid from Atchison-based Gary Servaes Enterprises for the purchase of 6,000 tons of double screened chat at a rate of $12.50 a ton, contingent on the quality of the material meeting the county’s standards and passing inspection by the road superintendent.
Following a closed-door session, the commission voted to advertise to fill the vacant county appraiser’s position based on the recommendation of the deputy county appraiser.
And the commission accepted the resignation of Iowa Township Treasurer Lawrence Blanton and voted to appoint Mike Twombly, of Highland, to fill his unexpired term.
